NORTON ANTI-VIRUS and NORTON INTERNET SECURITY
SniperSpy should not be deployed remotely when Norton Anti-Virus is installed on the remote computer. You can bypass Norton but you will need to be sitting in front of the monitored computer to install. This page provides a step-by-step of how to bypass Norton Anti-Virus and Norton Internet Security. You should create your module from your home computer and place the module on a floppy or CD to have it ready once you are at your remote PC. In some cases we create your module for you and place it online. In those cases you can execute the module by clicking the special link we gave you instead of a floppy or CD.
Your version of Norton might be a little different. But the goal is the same: To add SniperSpy's files to all exclusion lists so it won't be scanned, including the firewall.

IMPORTANT NOTE: DO NOT TURN ON THE ANTI-VIRUS BLOCKER WHEN CREATING YOUR MODULE.
1. At the top of Norton, click Options > Norton AntiVirus
2. Go to System > Auto-Protect on left side.
3. Go to Other > Security Risks > Exclusions on left side.
4. On the "What known security risks to exclude". If SniperSpy is listed there then REMOVE it for now.
5. If SniperSpy is not in that list, then go to Step 6.
6. Click OK to go back to the main Norton screen and minimize it for now.
7. Execute your module from the floppy or CD-ROM.
8. Wait about 60 seconds after you execute the module. (important)
9. Go back inside Norton and at left side, click Norton AntiVirus > Scans
10. Click "Scan Folders" in the menu.
11a. If you have Windows XP, select C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\COMPUTERNAME\ to scan that folder only. 11b. If you have Windows Vista, select C:\ProgramData\COMPUTERNAME\ to scan that folder only.
NOTE: "COMPUTERNAME" should be replaced with your computer's actual name as found in My Computer.
12. You will then be shown an "ALERT". In the drop-down box, choose "Exclude from future scans." and OK. (See screenshot below)

13. Then you will be shown another warning that Norton found the security risk. You will then see "Manual Repair - Risks" screen. Choose EXCLUDE again in the drop down box. (See screenshot below)

14. After you click OK, then reboot the PC.
15a. If you have Windows XP, then open My Computer, navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\COMPUTERNAME\ and click VIEW > DETAILS to see the full file names. 15b. If you have Windows Vista, Go to Start > Control Panel > Folder Options > View > Show Hidden Files and Folders. Then go to Start > My Computer. Navigate to C:\ProgramData\COMPUTERNAME\.
16. Double-click taskenv.exe to execute the file to make sure the startup entries remain.
17. If you only have the "Anti-Virus" and not Norton "Internet Security", then you are finished.
18. If you have Norton Internet Security, then at this point you should wait at least 15 minutes for the firewall alert for "snhost" and "taskenv". Click "Always Allow" on both messages.
